PURPOSE OF THE CONFERENCE

 


This event includes the following objectives:

- Gathering all relevant players in the public health education sector, to share experience on communication methods and patient
  education. A large array of countries will be represented.
- Taking stock of current patient knowledge in HPV infection and related diseases.
- Sharing experience in communication strategies for improving patient knowledge.
- Drawing lessons from other public health education programs. Identifying strengths and weaknesses of educational strategies and
  programs.
- Evaluating current acceptability of HPV vaccines and setting up public education methods in this field.
- Elaborating strategies to improve communication methods on HPV infection and related disease.
- Determining models of good practice in patient education
- Initiating an International network to optimize public education actions in the field of HPV infection and cervical cancer prevention.

Note: this conference concerns the communication process, not the content of the message.
The key question is: How should we communicate?


Target Audience

Health care authorities, governmental and non-governmental organisations, scientific societies, health communication specialists, media representatives, from a variety of countries.


Structure of the Conference

The conference is structured over the full day of Thursday, October 4, starting at 8h30 and finishing at 17h30.
Each session is structured as follows:
- Introduction by chairperson
- Keynote lecturer
- Round table discussion (5 participants representing institutions / organizations).
At the end of each session, the chairperson will give a brief summary report.


Report
The chairpersons of each session are expected to draw up a summary report on their session which would be integrated into a final report on the whole conference.


International network
The conference aims at initiating an international network to optimize public education actions in the field of HPV infection and cervical cancer prevention.
