Oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) is one of the fastest rising cancers in many countries. This has been attributed to the rise in HPV related head & neck cancer. This new disease entity appears to have significantly better survival outcomes. The knowledge base in this multidisciplinary field is quickly developing. The goal of the forum is to discuss current controversies in the diagnosis, management and prevention of the diseases and understanding the role of sexual behavior in oral transmission and risk.
Important questions arise regarding natural history, diagnosis, patient counseling and the best management regimen of HPV associated head & neck cancer. The role of surgery and chemotherapy according to HPV status and perspective of immunotherapy will be presented.
