Dear Colleagues,

It is our very great pleasure to announce that the 4th International Congress on "Papillomavirus in human pathology" organized by Eurogin will be held in Paris on April 5-9 2000. This multidisciplinary conference will be given over to "Global challenges of cervical cancer prevention and lower genital tract infections and neoplasia". The conference will bring together experts from around the globe in the fields of gynecology, dermatology, pathology, oncology, public health, behavioral science, immunology and virology to develop a consensus on strategies for eradicating this particularly common disease among women.

Over recent years, Eurogin meetings have rapidly become one of the most valuable sources of information providing the ideal setting for discussion and a forum for exchanges between the world's most eminent specialists and all those involved in the fields of research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer.

At the dawn of the third millenium, the time has come to review the status of the disease, to assess the challenges which face clinicians, cytopathologists and other specialist disciplines and to focus on the prospects for cervical cancer prevention with regard to new technologies and therapeutic innovation. Thus, among countless other exciting activities available to participants, this latest congress will offer:

  • Experts' meetings, sponsored by the WHO and Eurogin, with a view to laying down and validating new diagnostic and management practices, .
  • Training programs and workshops aimed at a wide range of specialist areas and focusing on issues challenging the practitioner today with a view to integrating these new techniques into everyday clinical practice. Educational material will be provided.
  • Scientific sessions including proffered comprehensive reviews and original studies which will be motivated by awards and a research grant for the best paper.

It is our intention that each day of this congress will offer something of value to every participant as we all look with eager anticipation towards the prospects of HPV vaccines and the possibility of eradicating cervical cancer in the not too distant future.

On behalf of the Eurogin Organizing Committee, it gives us very great pleasure to invite you to join us in Paris for the 4th Eurogin International Congress. This meeting promises to be particularly exciting. In addition, you will have the opportunity of visiting or re-visiting Paris, one of the world's most beautiful cities.

We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you to Paris and to your participation in the Congress.

Sincerely yours,
