Young Scientists Award & EUROGIN Grants

The EUROGIN 2024 Young Scientists Award

The Young Scientists Award session will be presented in connection to the Congress Welcome Ceremony on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

Dr. Dave Hawkes (Australia) and Dr. Jesper Bonde (Denmark) will host the Young Scientists Award at EUROGIN 2024.

Here, 5 selected finalists will have a 5-minute pitch to present their project to a jury panel. We are not looking for the usual scientific presentation! Instead, the contestants will be evaluated by a jury assigning points 0-10 for the following elements for a max of 50 points

  • Adherence to time
  • Clarity of project aim / news worthiness
  • Clarity of data presentation/ conclusions / perspectives of research
  • Format of presentation
  • X-factor

When the presentations are complete, the Jury´s score will be announced with the winner of the 1000€ Young Scientists Award.

How to apply for the Young Scientists Award?

Age limit: applicants for the Young Scientists Award must be within 5 years of last academic degree

Abstract presenters who wish to apply for participation in the Young Scientists Award at EUROGIN 2024 should send a short informal request by email to [email protected] with a short CV and mentioning their abstract number and title, AFTER having submitted their abstract via the online abstract submission platform.

The selection process will be based on the abstract rating by the session committee.

Every finalist will receive travel support (lumpsum amount depending on country of origin, maximum 500 euros).

Important note

The finalists of the Young Scientists Award are not allowed to present their research in another congress session.

Applications for the Young Scientists Award which are not selected as finalists will be automatically converted to applications for a EUROGIN Grant (without any guarantee on the outcome).

EUROGIN Grants

The EUROGIN 2024 Organizing Committee will award several grants for a selection of proffered papers submitted by :

  • Young scientists (age limit 35 years or maximum 5 years after last academic degree)
  • Scientists and researchers from low-income countries (no age limit)

Grants will be awarded at two different levels:

EUROGIN Grant – Level 1

Beneficiaries of a EUROGIN Level 1 Grant will have their registration fees waived.

EUROGIN Grant – Level 2

Beneficiaries of a EUROGIN Level 2 Grant will have their registration fees waived and 2 nights accommodation booked by the organizers (dates according to session in which the presentation is scheduled).

The selection process will be based on:

  • Abstract rating by the Scientific Committee
  • Personal situation of the applicant (low income countries)

How to apply for a EUROGIN Grant

Abstract presenters who wish to apply for a EUROGIN 2024 Grant should send a short informal request by email to [email protected] with a short CV and mentioning their abstract number and title, AFTER having submitted their abstract via the online abstract submission platform.

Authors of poster abstracts are allowed to apply for a EUROGIN Grant.

Applicants will be informed of the outcome as soon as possible after review of the abstracts by the Scientific Committee.

Once all grants have been awarded, a message will be posted here informing that no more grant is available.

All grants will cover the registration fees for EUROGIN 2024.

Grants cannot be allocated to persons who benefit from third party support (shared support may be considered upon prior request).
